Angela Widler completed her Masters of Health Sciences from South College in Knoxville, TN and completed an emergency medicine fellowship in Norfolk, VA. She currently works for the University of Colorado in the emergency department.
Angela’s passion for wilderness medicine stemmed from personal pursuits in the outdoors and a desire to marry safety and fun. She obtained a wilderness EMT upgrade at CMC in Edwards, CO nearly 10 years ago which fueled her desire to learn more. During her EM fellowship she became certified in Advance Wilderness Life Support (AWLS) and has since became an apprentice AWLS instructor. Since gaining employment through CU she has pursued opportunities to share wilderness medicine through pre-med and medical student education, wilderness first aid (WFA) classes, and lecturing for pre-hospital provider medical refreshers. Additionally, she has co-created educational hikes and is involved in research regarding recreational backpacking. Angela plans to continue to pursue opportunities in education and become a course director for adventure wilderness medicine courses.
