FAQs

Students who pass the classes and meet the course completion criteria will earn a certificate from the University of Colorado. Depending on which class you’ve taken, you can expect to leave with a Wilderness First Aid, Wilderness Advance First Aid, or other certificate. These can be used for various volunteer organizations, as well as in careers such as trail guides.

Each class carries its own requirements, but in general, there are not major re-requisites for our general public courses. We love welcoming students from all over — you do not need to be a University of Colorado student, or live in the state of Colorado at all. We’ve had students join us from other countries. If you can get here, we’re happy to have you!

While some of our courses happen mostly in the classroom, we do have hands-on segments that require things like bending, lifting, crouching, standing, etc. Other classes with higher ratings, 2 and above, may include hikes that require more physical effort.
