Dr. Elisabeth Edelstein is the Director of Undergraduate Medical Education for Emergency Medicine and Co-director of the Wilderness Medicine program at Sidney Kimmel Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University. She was the faculty director for the inaugural Mid-Atlantic Student Wilderness Medicine Conference (MASWM) in 2010, and subsequent conferences in 2012 and 2014. Dr. Edelstein has been a member of the Wilderness Medical Society (WMS) since 2007 and has been a WMS board member since 2013. Dr. Edelstein discovered during her residency at New York Presbyterian how to “join your passion with your profession,” when she was an instructor for the inaugural Cornell Wilderness Medicine Elective for medical students. Edelstein currently serves as co-director for the WMS medical student electives in Roanoke, VA and Breckenridge, CO. Edelstein is an Associate Editor for Wilderness Medicine Magazine. In her precious free time, Dr. Edelstein enjoys exploring new trails in running sneakers accompanied by 1-2 dogs, skiing, backpacking, getting in the water whenever possible, and never missing an opportunity to watch the sunrise or sunset.
