Dr. Jacqueline Kiernan received a Bachelors of Science from SUNY Potsdam where she began her career as a marine mammal researcher, studying the diving development of harbor seals through a collaborative effort with the University of Maine, Orono. After graduation, she worked at the Northeast Fisheries Science Center in Woods Hole Massachusetts conducting research in whale acoustics.

A strong passion for preventative healthcare led her to pursue a career in physical therapy. She received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. Jacqueline spent the first two years of her career as a traveling physical therapist in several settings, which included a position at Vail Valley Medical Center in Vail, Colorado as an emergency department physical therapist where her passion for incorporating physical therapy into the emergency department setting began.

Currently, she is a senior physical therapist at the University of Colorado Hospital working in inpatient acute care and the emergency department, combining a love a research, wilderness medicine and physical therapy. Her current research involves investigating biomechanical implications for fitting backpacks and how this contributes to musculoskeletal injuries. Areas of interest include: treating patients with vestibular pathology, wound care, biomechanics and wildlife/adventure photography.
