She previously served as an assistant professor of Emergency Medicine and Pediatric Emergency Medicine at Carolinas Medical Center. She actively works with First Descents, a nonprofit providing outdoor adventures for young adults with cancer. Her academic interest areas include remote disaster response, medical education, expedition medicine, and vulnerable populations in austere settings.
