Dr. Vaughn A. Browne is an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. Dr. Browne trained at Loma Linda University School of Medicine where he completed the MD-PhD program, internship in Pediatrics, and Residency in Emergency Medicine. He joined the faculty at the University of Colorado School of Medicine in 2003 where he has been actively involved in high- altitude physiology research, and in educating medical students, residents, fellows, EMTs, Paramedics, Nurses, and PA’s. He co-developed a curriculum for ultrasound education in the School of Medicine, and the Special Operator Level Clinical Ultrasound (SOLCUS) curriculum for the Special Operations Medical Forces Training Program. Since 2010, he has led efforts to improve the quality of emergency ultrasound at the University of Colorado Hospital, Department of Emergency Medicine. Dr. Browne teaches ultrasound courses in the Wilderness & Environmental Medicine section to pre-health undergraduate students and medical students. Dr. Browne also teaches a course in Costa Rica on the subject of Emergency Medicine and Advanced Wilderness Life Support. He was the recipient of the 2011 Golden Stethoscope Award for Excellence in Clinical Education, and 2012 Department of Emergency Medicine Outstanding Physician Award, and 2016 Denver Health Residency in Emergency Medicine Jeffrey Druck Legacy Teaching Award.  Dr. Browne is also chairman of the School of Medicine Admissions Committee, where he is passionately involved in promoting excellence and diversity at all levels of medical education.
