He specializes in sports and exercise cardiology, as well as advanced heart failure cardiology. Within these roles, he currently serves as the sports cardiologist for the Denver Nuggets and Colorado Avalanche. He conducts a number of clinical/translational research studies to advance our understanding of the limits of the human body and cardiovascular system in response to athletics and endurance sporting events, and environmental extremes.
Dr. Cornwell has a Bachelor of Science degree from the Ohio State University, and attended Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine for medical school. He completed medical training at the University of Michigan, followed by cardiology and advanced heart failure cardiology fellowships at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. He also completed a postdoctoral cardiology fellowship at the Institute for Exercise and Environmental Medicine in Dallas TX, before joining faculty at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
