Introduction to Wilderness Medicine is an elective course offered to 1st and 2nd year medical students at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. It is a lecture-based series with an emphasis on basic science and pathophysiology of wilderness medicine problems. Students also participate in a hands-on session focusing on basic splinting skills and spend a morning with Rocky Mountain Rescue in Boulder, CO learning basic skills required for patient management in the wilderness.
Optional Wilderness First Aid certificate might be issued upon completion of the course, fees might apply if student requests certificate.
