Kurt Eifling, MD, FAWM was the Fellow from 2017-2018. After spending one year on staff at the University of Vermont, he moved back to his hometown of Fayetteville, Arkansas. He lives there with his wife Carla, their son Felix, and two dogs. In Arkansas, he works as a community Emergency Medicine physician and provides field medical services for outdoor sporting events including road races, rock climbing, and mass gatherings. Beyond Arkansas, he serves as the medical director of the Institute for Field Research, a Los Angeles-based nonprofit research institute that places undergraduate students in scientific research camps worldwide.
His interests in wilderness medicine focus on wellness in group field camps, travel medicine, and mental health.
